The Rowley mine is situated in the Painted Rocks Mountains mining district, about 28 miles northwest of Gila Bend, Arizona. The mine is best known for its spectacular wulfenite specimens. However, the mine has also been operated in the mining of copper, chrysocolla, lead, gold and silver.

Extraction of minerals from this mine are difficult in that the lower levels are flooded. Access requires pumps running 24 hours a day raising over 200 gallons of water per minute. One area of the mine has been labeled as the “blue room” due to walls being line with beautiful shades of blue chrysocolla.

This piece of Rowley Chrysocolla has been stabilized. The stone has variations of chrysocolla mixed with cuprite (another copper mineral) .

The stone is set in a custom sterling silver (0.925) setting.

Photographed under full spectrum LEDs.
